Evening skies are falling
Drenching my heavy heart
Tears from the clouds slash me
Reminding me of my loss
The stillness is
Tearing my heart
Apart
Wetness soaks me
My bones feel cold
Sounds of liquid stones
Pounding
Penetrating my soul
The stillness is
Tearing my heart
Apart
The smell of the earth’s longing
As she drinks in the rain
Soothes my spirit
Hope perhaps
Regained – no –
The stillness is
Tearing my heart
Apart
Evening skies groan
Hurling light across the heavens
I sit and remember
Through sight, smell and touch
Through hearing and taste
The stillness inside is
Tearing my heart
Apart
