Upon Learning Forgiveness

Upon Learning Forgiveness

Forgiveness forges fires within my heart
Expanding my soul into wondrous flight
Grasping for Heaven with severe intention
Dreaming the hostage is now free

Forgiveness thunderously crashes through my soul
Waves embracing the ragged shores of
A life complicated in simplicity

Opportunity how you have knocked at my heart
Drenching my spirit with the wetness of love
Bleeding into passages unknown
Yet known - scary, dark and gloomy

Forgiveness extending, bursting with light
Brightly seeping beyond chasms of thought
Growing hope and nurturing faith
I awaken in a gasp for air beneath waters of despair
Forgiveness pulls me back from the ledge
Opening vision, seeing fantasies of misery

I’m forgiving the world of all its strife
I’m forgiving me of nebulous dreams
Breathing and living the truth of life
Allowing healing, expanding beyond
The littleness that had me bound

On Being a Hermit

~On Being a Hermit~

I know the heart of the Hermit
Is a heart war torn
Beaten and downtrodden
A resource tattered and scattered
Used up then left aside

Outside life progresses on

Crawling away, hiding within
Recluse like in darkened internal dens
Withdrawing from the poisons
Of a venomous world

In solitude healing begins

The battle scars reflect
Days once lived in belief and faith
Offering up compassion and love
To those whom choose to only fear

Alone time stands still

Turn off the chatter of a wounded heart
Live a life apart from all the winds
Forgiving forgetting the Terrors of life
Rebuild a spirit that is strengthened
From within

Love is the visceral elixir of faith

The Hermit becomes wise
Beyond thoughts, beyond body
Knowing that to be alone within and without
Heals the tortured soul so that
Wisdom can be born

A Wish

My grandson made a wish today
Then blew it upon a breeze
Where a hundred fairies carried his dream
Above and beyond the trees
He looked up into my eyes and grinned
"Nana it's gone!"
I hugged him with a loving gaze that said

"Have faith, it won't be long"

Never

Never

Never do we ask to be
In a place where demons
Are free to rule
With aggression and
Pointed vile words

Never

Never do we beg to feel
The piercing points of
Words meant to kill
One’s spirit

Never

Never are we poised and
And ready to
Discover we are
Loathed and Hated
By those we love

Never

Never are we prepared
To defend our heart’s
Passions and faults
For our heart is who
We are inside

Never

Never are we meant
To shed a million tears
Regretting life
Regretting love
Regretting hope
Regretting faith
Regretting our own
Existence

Never

My Burdened Heart

Beneath cold skies of night
My heart beats
Grasping to survive
Trying to not drown
In tears

Quietly I slip into velvet
Blackness
Cold air
Caresses my thoughts
I’m suffocating

Loss of hope
Forgotten dreams
Faith disappears
In the morrow
I’m crushed
Again

My burdened heart
Barely beats
My burdened heart
Beats toward
Nothingness

Nothing becomes safer
Than something
Absent moments
Collide with fears
I’ve no strength

Cold skies of night
Dressed in velvet darkness
Have stolen
My hope
My grace

My faith
